Ann Arbor, MI (PRBuzz.com) March 26, 2012 — Suzanne Klein, the founder and CEO of WriteSteps, an innovative K-5 writing program, will share successful approaches to Common Core teaching at the annual conference of the National Association of Federal Education Program Administrators (NAFEPA) this week. Klein, a former K-5 teacher and national writing coach, addressed elementary principals over the weekend at the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) conference in Seattle. This week, she heads to Washington to place K-5 Common Core writing strategies in the context of federal education policy and programs.
“I’m looking forward to sharing Common Core success strategies with members of NAFEPA,” Klein said. I hope we’ll have lively discussions about the kinds of of professional development and teacher resources that best position schools for instruction that addresses the Common Core Standards.”
Klein will present to new federal program administrators on Tuesday, March 27 at 1:00 p.m. in the Executive Room at the Omni Shoreham Hotel. Attendees will receive a 15-day trial subscription to eWriteSteps, allowing them online access to Common Core lesson plans, teaching demonstration videos, and visual aids for K-5.
Klein has extensive training in writing pedagogy best practices including writer’s workshop and 6 Traits. She holds a Master of Arts degree in teaching, is a National Writing Project fellow, and draws inspiration from educators such as Ralph Fletcher, Barry Lane, Lucy Calkins, Katie Wood Ray, and John Collins. She is a Common Core specialist who has worked as a writing coach for thousands of teachers at the district level and at national workshops for the Bureau of Education Research (BER).
The theme for the 2012 NAFEPA conference is Educating Students to Excel for America. Activities run from March 25-28 and feature a wide array of education policy presentations and forecasts.
