Ann Arbor, MI (PRBuzz.com) March 13, 2012 — Suzanne Klein, the founder and CEO of WriteSteps, will reveal the keys to successful Common Core writing at the annual conference of the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) on March 24. Klein, a former K-5 teacher and national writing coach, speaks to educators across the United States on best practices in Common Core writing instruction. The company she leads, WriteSteps, fuses best practices in writing instruction and provides professional development, teacher-friendly writing lessons, and teaching demonstration videos focused on the widely-adopted Common Core State Standards for writing and grammar.
The theme of this year’s NAESP conference is “Best Practices for Better Schools.” It will be held in Seattle, WA, at the Washington State Convention Center and at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel. Klein will make her presentation at 9:15 a.m. in Rooms 3A-3B of the Convention Center. She will lead principals in an exploration of research-based instructional approaches including
Emphasizing research on best practices, including a recent study in the Harvard Educational Review that links writing lessons to improved reading outcomes, Klein will describe how consistent, targeted writing instruction across the grades maximizes student learning. Principals in attendance will learn practical strategies that raise student confidence and test scores by creating a high-success atmosphere that helps all kinds of learners strengthen their writing skills. Attendees will also receive practical tools their teachers can use in their classrooms.
Klein has extensive training in writing pedagogy best practices, including writer’s workshop and 6 Traits. She holds a master of arts degree in Teaching, is a National Writing Project fellow, and draws inspiration from educators such as Ralph Fletcher, Barry Lane, Lucy Calkins, Katie Wood Ray, and John Collins. She has worked as a writing coach for thousands of teachers at the district level and led national workshops for the Bureau of Education Research.
